Fabrication Unlimited Website Redesign Launched

Fabrication Unlimited has been offering Sacramento custom metal fabrication for a couple years. I’m pleased to be a small part of this company. You see, I designed it.
John Christensen is the owner of Fabrication Unlimited and he started his business with just one product, a “satellite antenna under eave mount”. This product helps satellite installers do their job faster and reduces the sway from wind that causes signal loss.
Fabrication Unlimited also started with a website that had just one page.
Over the last year, I have met with John several times to discuss his marketing. Out of these meetings a tighter brand was assembled including a new logo, slogan and website.
John was certain he wanted a monogram for the logo and to tell you the truth… I was doubtful. I mean, what can you do with the initials “FU”? After some thought I came up with this:

It’s very modern, clean, stylish, masculine and just looks cool! Best of all, the stylized “F” gives the logo movement and activity bringing the whole thing to life.
And I’ve never heard anyone reference the “F.U.” quality of the letters so I’d call this a big success.
The tagline for Fabrication Unlimited is “We Steel Your Ideas”. This is a bit clever but definitely gets people to sit up and take notice when they hear it. I was fortunate enough to be with John at a LeTip meeting where he first shared the new tagline with people on the outside. It was an immediate hit as the whole table looked up and grinned with understanding.
The tagline leads into the expansion of Fabrication Unlimited which is the custom fabrication. Clearly a one-page website about satellite mounts was not going to work any more. Plus the new branding had to be put up so it was the perfect opportunity to relaunch the website.
While going over ideas for the new site John asked me if there was a way to display his custom work like an online gallery.
“I have just the thing,” I said. I explained to him that blogging software like WordPress would enable him to manage the content of the site himself. He’d be able to post new projects or any other company news he thought should be on the site. He’s also be able to go back into each post and edit it later if needed.
I designed the new site keeping the main breadwinner up front (the satellite mount) and added the blog behind the main page under “Custom Projects“.
I built the site template around the WordPress installation so John has complete control over the content of the site and is able to add links and create categories as well as edit any page.
The new site is a hit, John is happy and now he has an inexpensive format to show off his products.
